Who We Are

The “Five Solas” of the Reformation
  • Scripture Alone!
While we deeply appreciate the comments of great Christian thinkers, we affirm with the reformers that Scripture is the inerrant and sole source of written divine revelation. Apart from Scripture we would not know of God’s grace in Christ. (II Tim 3:16,17)

  • Christ Alone!
As Scripture is our only final authority, so Christ is our only mediator. We hold that the primary message from Genesis to Revelation is the redemptive work of Christ. (Jn 5:39; I Pet 1:10,11; Rom 3:21,22)

  • Grace Alone!
Salvation, including the faith through which we are justified, is from beginning to end the free gift of God, accomplished completely by His work. We cannot earn or deserve it. (John 6:29, 44, 65; I Cor 12:3; Eph 2:8,9)

  • Faith Alone!
Only full reliance on Christ (faith) justifies the sinner. A right standing with God rests on the atoning death and perfect life of Christ alone, not on any merit found in us. We deny that our salvation is accomplished in any sense by our works. (Rom 3:21-26)

  • To God Alone Be The Glory!
The Reformation message puts God in His place and man in his. The recognition that God alone saves, apart from any contribution by man, reserves all credit for salvation for God alone, and preserves the truth that all things exist for God and to promote His glory.

“I will not give My glory to another” Isaiah 42:8
Reformed Confessions of Faith contain many important Biblical affirmations
  1. The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. (II Tim 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:20, 21)
  2. Man’s sin prohibits him from seeking or pleasing God by his own efforts. (Eph 2:1,2)
  3. Only faith in Christ, the unique Son of God, as our atoning sacrifice secures salvation for God’s people. (Ephesians 2:8,9; I Jn 5:11, 12)
  4. Jesus rose bodily from the grave. (Acts 2:22-24)
  5. Only the Work of the Holy Spirit, the third member of the Divine Trinity, is sufficient for drawing people to Christ. He both enables them to believe in Him and strengthens them to live the Christian life. (Jn 3:5; I Pet 1:2)
  6. An increasing love for the Lord Jesus Christ, expressed in obedience to His Word, is the necessary fruit which bears evidence that one is indeed a Christian. (John 8:42)
  7. The church is a living fellowship of God’s people committed to helping one another grow in their Christian lives. (Hebrews 10:24, 25)
  8. Prayer is God’s means of working in the world as His people intercede for His will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. (Luke 11:2)
  9. The church is God’s means of discipling the world, proclaiming the Gospel message through which believers are incorporated into God’s kingdom, and teaching them what it means to obey His will. (Matt 28:19, 20)
  10. We look forward to the return of Jesus Christ to judge all persons and to live forever with those who have trusted Him. (I Thess 4:16, 17; Rev 21:3)
